Sara(h) Rice Scott : Orange!

I was visiting a friend in philadelphia a couple weekends ago and we took a day trip to brooklyn, ny. we ate lunch at this really good restaurant Bonita (the fish tacos were great).  the restaurant had a really neat interior; i was especially pleased with the orange tile, as it worked wonderfully into this assignment. i also really like that my friend jessica has red hair – all part of the art, friends.
here’s the nitty gritty:
Camera:    Nikon Coolpix S210 (i wasn’t up for hauling the SLR around, that thing is a beast)
Exposure:    0.125 sec (1/8)
Aperture:    f/3.1
this is hand-held, no flash – i set the camera on the table, tilted up, and hoped for the best. i rarely hold a camera to my face anymore; i call it “wartime” photo shooting – just stretching my arm and shooting (this photo isn’t a good example, but you get the idea… i hope).
with that, i will close with this catchy slogan: shoot with cameras, not guns.

  1. Those colors in the tile are incredible. It feels a little tongue in cheek, too; maybe because you only let us see a little bit of tile. Nice.

  2. first off, and maybe it’s because i’m in the renovation zone, somebody needs to re-grout that subway tile. i mean come on people!

secondly, I like the “wartime shooting” approach. very……say…documentre.

  3. i think i favorited that on flickr already. if i didn’t, i’m going to.

i think you mean SARAH RICE SCOTT.

    • wait you mean there’s another rice scott. but she spells is with an “H”?! crazy!

Also, I’m not currently near a phone.

  5. love love love the colors too! great composition!

  6. …and as former “tiler” myself, that grout is whack.

  7. I love the tension you feel from wondering what she’s looking at.. I need to know!
